Metro Detroit Wedding Videographer
An intimate fall wedding in Traverse City, told by Michigan wedding videographer Myron Hill. Watch Lisa & Adam’s lakeside wedding trailer.
October 2 was a special day. The weather was perfect, Traverse City was surrounded by beautiful fall colors, and my friend Lisa was marrying the love of her life. I was there to film it. Lisa and Adam had chosen a lakeside setting, invited the people closest to them, and made sure their two fur babies were part of the day, too.
I enjoy big weddings. There’s a lot to love about a larger celebration, and I wouldn’t want every wedding I film to look the same. But intimate weddings are my favorites. Lisa and Adam’s day had so much of what I love about them: close loved ones, meaningful details, and a setting that felt like them.
Traverse City is one of my favorite places in Northern Michigan to film a wedding. The rolling hills, changing foliage, and lakes give this part of the state a character all its own. In the fall, it’s the kind of place that makes you understand why a couple would plan their whole wedding around being there.
As a Michigan wedding videographer, I want the location to be part of the story without letting it take over. A beautiful landscape matters, but it matters differently when it’s the place where someone you know is getting married. For this wedding, the water and fall colors weren’t just scenery to include in a film. They were part of how I’ll remember Lisa and Adam’s day.
If you’re exploring intimate wedding locations for a fall celebration, Northern Michigan is a lovely place to start. Lisa and Adam found a beautiful spot by the lake, and it suited the wedding they wanted to have.
The decorations were personal and meant something to them. That’s always more interesting to me than whether everything follows a particular wedding style. I appreciate details that belong to the couple. They give me something specific to pay attention to and help make a film feel like it couldn’t simply be about anyone else.
And their two fur babies were there. When your pets are part of your family, having them with you on your wedding day makes sense. Alongside Lisa and Adam’s loved ones, they belonged in the story. Those are the details I want to remember: not just where a wedding happened, but who was there and what made it personal.
That’s what I appreciate about intimate wedding videography. A smaller celebration doesn’t mean there’s less of a story to tell. The people and personal details deserve just as much care as they would at a wedding with a huge guest list. With Lisa being a friend, that care had an added meaning for me.
Their trailer is a short glimpse of that lakeside celebration. I’d love for you to press play and spend a little time with their day.
The setting was beautiful, but I wanted their film to be about Lisa and Adam and the people closest to them. Knowing Lisa made that especially clear: I was filming a lovely fall wedding, and I was also making something for a friend and her husband to keep.

People often think of Detroit when Michigan comes up, but there’s so much more to our state. I love filming here at home, and I love getting the chance to head north. The hills, the foliage, the lakes—it’s a different kind of setting, and one I never get tired of. I’d genuinely love to live in Northern Michigan one day.
For now, I’m grateful that my work gives me a reason to be there, especially for something as personal as Lisa and Adam’s wedding. October 2 is a day I’ll remember for the place, the people, and the chance to film a friend getting married.
We love capturing small, intimate weddings wherever they happen. At the heart of the day are two people getting married, surrounded by the ones who mean the most to them. Lisa and Adam’s wedding was a lovely reminder of that.
